Frequently Asked Questions
When should you start taking your child to the dentist?
As a general rule, we say a child should make their first trip to the dentist before their first birthday. Ideally, we’ll begin dental care when your baby’s first tooth appears. Once that tooth first appears, it’s the parents’ responsibility to keep it clean and healthy! Make sure you brush their teeth at least once a day at bedtime.
What do I do if my child has a dental emergency?
If your child has suffered a dental-related injury, please call our office right away. If you call after hours, our answering service will ensure Dr. Rashedi gets the message as soon as possible.
Remember: the first half-hour following a dental injury is the most important. For teeth that have been knocked out, rinse gently, but do not scrub. If they appear clean, put in milk, and bring them here ASAP for treatment!
What is fluoride?
Fluoride is a naturally occurring substance that can be beneficial to oral health. Systemic fluoride, ingested through drinking fluoridated water or prescribed supplements, helps developing teeth become stronger by incorporating itself into the enamel. It is a topical application with toothpaste and other rinses to strengthen your pearly whites.
